Join with us in making history come
alive in Gaines Township.
In order to achieve these purposes,
the Society takes the following actions:
Publish the Gaines Gazette at least
quarterly with information concerning local events, glimpses
into the past, and documentation of Gaines Township History.
Maintain the De Tray School as a
hands-on museum which can be used by organizations and
individuals to make history come alive.
Identify local historical buildings
or sites and encourage their preservation, either physically or
in memory.
Support the Historical Society with
your time, energy and donations.
Identify your talents, and
volunteer. Opportunities include: writing for Gaines Gazette,
interviewing and taping oral histories, cleaning and mowing at
De Tray School, maintaining records and files in the local
history room, baking for bake sales, helping with special fund
raising events by volunteering to sit at a food booth or act as
a cashier at a craft sale, painting or hammering where
necessary, providing transportation, etc. There are many ways in
which you can be useful.
Attend meetings when special
programs are planned.
